My friends from WhoWeAreInstead came up with the best idea of celebrating Christmas with kids from a poor community in Mandaluyong. With the help of Alay Pag-Asa we were able to give these kids a party, WWAI-style.

Oh yes, the pirates were so nice to join us. Our overflowing gratitude to these brave souls of the sea. But between you and me, I think their ulterior motive here was to recruit younglings. Yo ho yo ho!!!

And now, the pics I stole from everyone else. Thanks Cris, Nick, Detty, Amy, Gharri and Shawie!!!

Blog EntryAnother Chance to be Unselfish TodayDec 15, '07 11:52 AM
for everyone

Later, members of the WhoWeAreInstead (Philippine-based community of Jars of Clay fans), with assistance from Alay Pag-Asa, are going to party with kids from an urban poor community in Mandaluyong. There's going to be gift-giving, games, snacks, singing and definitely lots of laughter. Plus a surprise appearance of the Pirates (members of Black Pearl Philippines, to which I also belong). I'll be dressed as a pirate and I'll host the program together with fellow WWAI member and friend, Fer. This is gonna rock!

I love partying with kids, especially with those who'd benefit from it more than others. They make me feel good about being able to actually do something to make other people happy, for a change. They help me forget about my own selfish concerns. Simply put, I learn to be a person for the world, not just for my self. Oh, to see the world again in the eyes of a child!

Kudos to my friends from WhoWeAreInstead for organizing this event. You guys remind me to always have hope in humanity. You help me see that when one's life is touched by God's hands, one can't help but spread the sunshine around. That there's always enough for everybody.

For now I gotta catch some Zzzz's, or the kids will have a zombie for a host. I'm so excited!!!

Blog EntryWho We Are Instead in TagaytayApr 28, '06 1:46 AM
for everyone
It wasn't a typical lazy saturday. For a start, I was up at 5 a.m. to get my self ready for one of the year's most awaited events of Who We Are Instead group, The Tagaytay Picnic. I decided to bring the car, what the heck. I know I can drive that far and I am totally capable of multi-tasking. That is to say, I can drive and chat and listen to the radio and navigate. Of course it ain't going to be a great day if I never miss a turn, so I did. Heh...The rest of the guys had to meet up with me near guadalupe to start the convoy. But then again I am never good with convoys when I know the way. I ended up giving the leader of the convoy a run for his gas money. I eventually won the Amazing Race (with a bit of luck).

Met with the rest of the group at Mcdo Tagaytay. After a bit (yeah right) of picture-taking here and there, we finally left for the Picnic Grove. Again, it's my first time to be there so yeah, I was ecstatic. Hehe... Lots of walking under the sun later, we found 3 available cottages. The view there was perfect. May bonus pang wonderful smell from the horses' you-know-what.

Spent the entire day eating, playing Taboo and Pinoy Henyo, and laughing our heads off. I remember having tummy ache (not to mention butt and back ache from driving) from too much laughing. It was like the problems of the world disapperead for a while.

I guess I won't be making this entry long. I just want to say that I feel really blessed to have found these guys. Having friends like them can make one feel like life's really okay. Every moment spent with them is filled with laughter. Every time I'm with them I feel appreciated, and even loved.

I'll never get tired of saying this: This group makes me wanna become a better person. Luv you guys!!!

My Who We Are Instead friends and I came from all coners of the metro and nearby provinces to have a grand day at the Picnic Grove in Tagaytay. It was one heck of a nice day. I'm only too glad I came.

Pics: Lynn and Lois, Gharri and Divino (so far). Waiting pics from 1-2 more cams.
