for everyone

Last Wednesday, my dad, two siblings and I went to The Hard Rock Cafe to check out the Jamnites (?) Beatles event. Man, we had the best night! We're all suckers for the Fab Four. And I especially loved this night for the bonding we had.

Area One started the night with Elenor Rigby. Umpisa pa lang, panalo na! Among the songs they performed, I loved the Paul McCartney combo the most. I'm also extra pleased that they played While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Orange and Lemons presented a much noisier, angstier, drug-laden set. Hehehe... The band said that their new album was kinna inspired by one Beatles song - Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. I wonder if they were inspired by the song or with what the song stands for. Hehe... Man I'm a dimwit.

Then of course, the fabulous Bloomfields. This is a dream come true. I love their Beatles covers! The boys gave us a more rockin' and a-rollin' set. Louie's performance was again, on the top of my list. I definitely loved his Long Tall Sally/I'm Down bit. And when the boys were done playing, the audience just kept asking for more. These boys are the ultimate crowd pleasers!

The fourth band, well, kinna were out of place. I'm not really a huge fan of ska (damn me for that) and arranging the Beatles songs to have a ska feel to them - I guess I'm just not ready for that. Oh well =)

It's literally a Hard Day's Night for me. It's like what they say - work hard, PARTY HARDER!!!

What a precious night. =)

I heard at Jam 88.3 that The Bloomfields, Area One and Orange and Lemons are all playing that night. This is definitely a treat to Beatlemaniacs like me. :D

for everyone

My WWAI friends dragged me into going to Aruba last night. I already declined but I guess I just can't say no. And boy was I glad I couldn't. I would have missed a terribly nice night.

Thursday nights at Aruba Metrowalk is Bloomfields night, and we're particularly excited for this nightout since our Singapore-based friend, Naning, was with us. It'll be months before we get together again. She's leaving Saturday morning so we're making the most out of her one-week stay in the country. *sniff* Anyhoot...

As always, I was Miss Screamo. This is my stress relief. I laughed the loudest, screamed the loudest. Man I was having so much fun! Although I think half of the crowd was dead last night. It wasn't the usual Aruba crowd I've known. Well it was almost four months since I last had my Bloomfix at Aruba. I guess the kids were no longer allowed to go out on weeknights. Hehe...

So there. The playlist was a bit different. Of course there's the usual stuff - Beach Boys' hits and my personal fave - The Beatles covers. Last night though, they played Nowhere Man and Kansas City!!! I was ecstatic! I wanted to hug 'em like little pokemon dolls (hehe... a hint of a psychokid here). By the time they were on their 2nd set, me and the girls are already on our feet. Deadma to the oldies who refused to move their butts. Jay-jay (of The Bloomfields) dubbed us as "lovely crowd" 'Nuff said.

I appreciate that Pepe (of The Bloomfields) took time to chat with Fer and I when we were outside during the break in between sets. I said hi to Pepe and Jayjay's dad and before I knew it, we were already discussing 60's music, turntables and vinyls, and 12-string guitrs. That's when Pepe saw us and he joined the chat. He's really a pleasant pleasant guy, level-headed and well, cute. Hehe... Same thing, we talked about music. And something else I couldn't forget:

Pepe: So when did you first saw us play?
Me: Last year in December, at Dish.
Pepe: Ah talaga? Supot pa kami 'nun.

I nearly died laughing. I didn't see that coming. Not from Pepe. Hehe... Ito pa:

Me: Hey i'll introduce you to my friend... this is Fer.
Fer: Hi.
Pepe: I'm Pepe.
Me: DUH.

Hahaha... kakainis talaga dila ko. Hehe.. Oh well.

Louie (the Bassist) was friendly too. I gave him a few pats for doing great (he gave me a few pats too, maybe for being sipsip. hehe...) Of course Lakan was nice as always. I even had the opportunity to bully him (Pag di nyo tinugtog Great Balls of Fire, gugulpihin ko kayo...).

And oh, they did an A Capella of Panalangin by the APO. Galeng! And jazzed-up versions of My Girl and Walk on By. Man I was having a blast! Too bad the night had to end.

I hope to see them again, and soon. Dancing is good for me.

My rating for last night's show:
out of five.
