It's just one of those schoolnights when the little kid is so lazy to walk the extra mile. Basta tapos na homework, okay na. As an adult (who am I kidding?), I had to play my part: Mum: Lemon, mag aral ka naman mabuti...blah...Mas okay yung matalino ka, yung may honors ka. When you grow up mas madali kang yayaman kung tapos ka ng school and pag matalino ka (I didn't want to mention about working or she'll get disillusioned. She knows I'm having a hard time working and making ends meet even if I do have work). Lemon: Eh di ba Mommy, matalino ka? Eh bakit di ka pa rin mayaman? Mum: (Dumbfounded) Uhm... Kasi malas ako eh. Hay kids these days. Di mo talaga mabola.
Lemon and I talk a lot (what a surprise!) - in the car, before going to sleep, before I leave for work, while watching a movie (I know we shouldn't but...), yadda yadda. Here are some amusing conversations we've had:
in the car, on our war to a mall: Lemon: Mum, why is the sky blue? (one of the ultimate questions each child had to ask) Mum: (praying I know the right answer) Because molecules in the air scatter blue light more than they scatter other colors. Di ba we have so many colors in the rainbow? Those molecules bounce off more blue light. Lemon: Ah.. but what are molecules? Mum: They're the little stuff all things are made of. They group together into particles. You can't see a single molecule kasi they're so small. Lemon: Ah... Eh why is the sea blue also? Mum: It reflects the blue sky. (I should've stopped explaining by this time but noooo. I just had to be Ms. Smarty pants) But sometimes it's green when the water is shallow kasi it shows naman what's under the water which mostly is green stuff. Lemon: Ah yeah. Green. Like aliens. Mum: *dumbfounded*

Last night while watching The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe on Disney Channel:
Scene: The morning after Aslan was stabbed by the White Witch on the stone table. Susan and Lucy fell asleep while Peter and Edmund lead the battle against the White Witch.
Lemon: Wala lang, natulog lang sila. Di man lang sila tumulong! Umiyak-iyak lang sila. (They just slept, they didn't even help. They just cried.) Mum: *laughing*

After watching Highschool Musical (I know, right?):
Mum: I love Sharpay. She's so cute! Lemon: Me too! I don't like Gabrielle. Lagi na lang syang parang kawawa. Liit pa ng boses. (She's pathetic. She's got such a small voice!) Mum: (thinking I've created a monster), uhm yeah. hehe..

i just remembered one more:
be careful what stuff you let your kids watch. Even seemingly innocent flicks such as Finding Nemo could change their lives forever.
One frustrated mom during dinner: Mum: Lemon, why won't you eat fish?!? Lemon: Eh kasi di ba sabi sa Finding Nemo, "fish are friends, not food!" Mum: What???
And she won't eat fish to this day.

(I'll update this every now and then. I don't want to forget these conversations. She'll grow up soon.)

| | I let Lemon borrow my 17th century gentleman/Anne Rice costume and painted her face as well. She's growing up to be more and more like me. Should I start worrying now? |

| | Filed a leave (again) from work to attend my little munster's Buwan ng Wika program at school. Her class recited a poem on the importance of loving the Filipino language. Other classes either danced or recited poems also.
Lemon chose the fabric for her skirt, my mom made it, while I went to Quiapo to hunt for a kimona. |

| | My not-so-little-anymore bundle of joy graduated from prep school last March. My baby already started catching up, as she got the 8th honor in her class. Yay! |

| | Venue 1: at her school. Prepared homemade chicken nuggets and fruit jello
Venue 2: At the office. Brought meaty spaghetti.
Venue 3: At Nanay's. Hardcore chilren's party.
At the end of the day, I got soooo tired. But then again that night, I was probably the happiest exhausted mum in the universe. I LOVE MY LEMON! |

| | Lemon was one of the representatives of her class in a quizbee hosted by their school. She didn't win the contest but I'm mighty glad just as well. She's my pride and joy!
My little giant baby is who you call a natural. She does not like to spend hours studying. She'd rather use the PC til her eyes pop out. Heehee... I love my Lemon! |
